The Yeltz line-up that day was:
Anderson, Basterfield, Lashford, Sims, Jones, Watton, Barker, Dugmore (7), Hadlington (2), Meaney, Mynard (1).
The report from the Sports Argus is set out below:
Midway through the second half, spectators began to leave the Sports Centre – a good illustration of how low spirit is here. Halesowen’s success was comfortable enough but had the home side shown little more determination in the early stages, the score would never have reached these proportions.
Halesowen gained a snappy two goal lead but were lucky to do so. A display of Dudley aggressiveness could easily have reduced this lead. As it was, the Dudley defence, never really solid, deteriorated as the game progressed. Their tackling was ineffective and their covering shockingly inadequate.
Medal of the day goes to Halesowen’s Ron Dugmore. He hit 7 goals and deserved every one. His distribution was tip-top, his shooting accurate and powerful. During the second half he just strolled through the Dudley defence with ease. A just reward, therefore, that he should score the 10th goal.
For the 1955/56 season. the Birmingham League Southern Division comprised:
