Following the meeting between the Ingram brothers and representatives of the Yeltz Trust, there will be a vote on Tuesday night to decide whether or not the boycott of home games should continue.
My opinion is worth no more or no less than any other Trust member of course, but I have got this website so I might as well write it down. I think the boycott should end. I have been critical of the Ingrams in the not so distant past but, this time, I feel the time is right to lend them our support.
At the time of writing my previous blog entry the Ingrams were not particularly forthright about Maison's future at Halesowen Twn. For that reason alone I was unsure about them but now, for the first time, they have unequivocally said that Maison has no part to play in their running of the club, should they bring it out of administration. If that is the case then that removes the only reason I was staying away from the Grove. If my admission money is not going into Maison's pocket and he has no further role at the club then I want to go back.
Of course, there will be those who don't believe the Ingrams and it is true that without Maison they would not be trying to take over the club. However, they must know the depth of feeling against Maison and, if they want to make success of their ownership, surely they have realised they need to cut him free.
If we take the Ingrams at their word, and we have no real reason not to (after all, isn't Godfrey Ingram one of the good guys at Luton?), then they could be playing a major role in the future of the club. Personally, I think that's worth at least the chance to start off with a clean slate. Part of that, as supporters, involves going back to the Grove and supporting the team.
Perhaps I'm being naive. Perhaps I'm letting my desire to go back cloud my judgment but I don't think so. Give them a chance. If they let us down and Maison sneaks in through the back door with which he has become so familiar lately, then we can deal with that then. In the meantime we have a chance of getting our club back. It may not be the way we had hoped but, at least, Maison could be back down the motorway to Milton Keynes and even if they do this and nothing else the Ingrams will have contributed to the wellbeing of the club.
