June 2009

Silly me. In my haste to criticise the club over the less than inspiring pre-season friendlies lined up, I failed to notice some additions to the schedule. We can now look forward to mouth watering games against Bishops Cleeve, Aberystwyth and Rushall Olympic. Aberystwyth is technically in another country of course so they could be classed as international opposition but it's not quite the thrill-fest we were promised.
I have added a new feature to the site - a blog. Now this diary thing is not a blog. You don't get the chance to insult me and call me an idiot. With the blog you do so what are you waiting for?

Christ, this is boring. I don't reckon we've got any players left. We certainly haven't had any announcements of new signings, or any announcements at all actually. The new coaching structure and the 'exciting' pre-season friendlies are still a mystery. So much for the improved communication channels that Guy Simpson wanted to introduce...
The Southern League is now the Zamaretto League. Apparently Zamaretto is some truly awful sounding flavoured licquer. Alcohol may be a useful crutch for Halesowen supporters next season but I doubt many of the Yeltz faithful will be fortifying themselves on that. Not that I've tasted it. It might be lovely. But I doubt it.

It's quiet. Too quiet...

Not much to report from the club. We are told that new players have been signed but we do not know who they are, we were told that an announcement would be made about the new coaching structure by the end of week but nothing has been said... You get the picture.
Some news has leaked through the club's rusting communication channels though. The AGMs have been announced for the club and the Social Club. Initially planned for 10.30am on workdays and in an un-named venue other than the Yeltz Bar, the more cynical amongst us might assume they were trying to discourage attendance (perhaps a little room in Milton Keynes would be a good choice?),  it now seems that they will in fact be at a sensible hour and at the Yeltz Bar. Fancy that.
A few pre-season friendlies have also been announced, of which King's Lynn at home is the highest profile although, to be fair, there are supposed to be more to come.

You may recall my enthusiastic plugging of the 2009 Fanzine Awards back in January and February. Well, I didn't win either of the categories in which I got to the final. Not content with knocking us out of the FA Cup, pesky Maidstone United had to go and win both of those as well. I really wanted to win these awards when the whole thing started but it dragged on for so long that I sort of forgot about it. So there.
As for the club, there is absolutely nothing happening. No player announcements, no pre-season announcements, no bans, no anything. I keep getting images of a frantic Guy Simpson trying to bail out a leaky ship with a knackered old bucket whilst Morell Maison sits back with a big cigar. Don't know why...
